Research Assistant
'Projections of Jerusalem in Europe'

Applications are invited for a research assistantship, as part of the
major research project Projections of Jerusalem in Europe: A Monumental
Network, funded by the European Research Council under the European
Union's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013; ERC grant agreement
n° 249466). The research project, conducted in partnership between the
Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the University of York, undertakes to
document monumental re-creations of Jerusalem in Europe and to analyse
the concepts that underlie their making.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of scholars; take
primary responsibility for documenting extant and lost Jerusalem
monuments in England and the Low Countries; produce high quality
publications on selected monuments and topics; participate in
conferences and workshops; and provide other intellectual and
administrative support for the project.

He/she will be based at the University of York, should have (or be near
completion of) a PhD in history of art or a cognate discipline, have
good knowledge of Latin, and be able to work efficiently as part of a
team.

The post is 75% of FTE, with a starting salary of £29,541 per annum (pro
rata) on Grade 6 of the University's salary scales. The post is
available from 1 October 2013 and is tenable for a fixed term until 30
April 2015.
